Hi All. My name is Emily and yesterday I was given an IRN by my husband and kids for mother's day. I have called her Bindi and I am looking forward to having her happy and tame in the family. We had bought a budgie a couple of weeks ago for my daughter and these are the only birds I have ever owned, so am really keen to learn as much as possible about taming and training. We are expats living in Qatar and she came from the pet souk. My husband had gone to get a big cage for the budgie, but saw 3 IRNs outside a shop and decided to get me a present. It seems she has been picked up and handled, but I'm not sure whether that has been forced handling as opposed to her wanting it. So I am trying.g a different approach and would rather she wants to come to me. She hasn't even been with us 24hrs yet, so am letting her settle and using the time to read up. Although she is next to me and I am talking to her lots. So any advice would be greatly received. Thanks.

Hi and welcome Emily, Such a lovely present you got. What colour is she? Lots to learn here, you will find this site very useful.

Hi Ash,
She is a gorgeous bright green, although there are some yellow feathers in her tail, and her beak is a lovely red. I did go back to the souq today to try and find toys, and there seemed quite a few males, but although they looked quite colourful, they seemed a bit tatty, my husband definitely chose a pretty girl.
