x 0.1 blue violet(sf) pallid
% from all 1.0
25.0% 1.0 grey(sf) green /blue pallid
25.0% 1.0 green /blue pallid
25.0% 1.0 grey(sf) green violet(sf) /blue pallid
25.0% 1.0 green violet(sf) /blue pallid
% from all 0.1
25.0% 0.1 grey(sf) green /blue
25.0% 0.1 green /blue
25.0% 0.1 grey(sf) green violet(sf) /blue
25.0% 0.1 green violet(sf) /blue
they had to babies this year one has yellow feathers starting to pop through
and the other looks like white pin feather is this right or is my grey green split to something or maybe not grey green
I will try to add some Pic. thank you

Re: Grey Green
Justin,
Your pics, what i see: first 2 pics is of greygreen but 3rd looks like a grey turquoise which makes sense.
Going on the idea that your male is: Turquoise Grey/Ino
You'd get pallidIno males they look almost white, you'll see slight tinge of blue or violet when it is fully feathered.
can also be an Albino hen
the yellow one, could be a turquoise pallidino cock or a Creamino (turquoise ino)
i guess you'll have to wait and see when more feathers pop up.

Re: Grey Green
thanks Ben, the third bird is a grey turquoise different bird. grey green is only the first 2 picks
very interesting can the grey green be split ino?
very interesting can the grey green be split ino?
Re: Grey Green
Yes it can, the male.
The 2 young can be pallidIno cocks or Albino & Lutino Hens

Re: Grey Green
hey guys,
I just recently bought an IRN. I think I have a grey green, but not actually sure he/she just doesn't look the normal green, got him/her from a pet shop and they said he/she was probably from a yellow and silver bird. I havent read much about mutations, is it easy to get a grey green breeding? I'd love to post a pic but I cant yet because Im a new member!! How do you tell what colour they are? Ive read a few posts on this forum but I get a bit confused with all the technical talk

Re: Grey Green
Grey Green is a common and easy to breed mutation. It is the Green Series bird and the Grey is the Blue series bird.
It is possible that it came from the pairing the Pet Shop told you and there are a number of other ways to breed one too.
It will appear alot darker than a Normal Green.

Re: Grey Green
Thanks Rob
Well Im not sure that the lady at the store knew what she was talking about as she didn't even know when he was born she was just covering for another staff member :S
Hey Deb thanks for uploading the pic!! He has less yellow than the pic and is more a pale green with darker green wing.
Still have a few more posts to make before I can put up URLs or pictures.
Many thanks for your replies

Re: Grey Green
No worries Fi,
In the meantime, here's 2 site's that have lots of pics of different coloured IRN mutations......
http://www.thomasriver.co.za/ringnecks/
Click on the links in the panel on the right-hand side to see different colours, male/female, and wing colours.
http://home.wanadoo.nl/psittaculaworld/ ... rameri.htm
Some of the mutations have a link underneath called "Series: Series of .......(eg cinnamon)" that will show you variations of that mutation in different colours.
I've bookmarked these 2 sites....very handy references when you're trying to work out colours
Enjoy your new friend

Re: Grey Green
I am loving my new friend
I had a look at the thomas river one and found a look a like straight away. I think he looks grey green cinnamon. He's only ten weeks old so hopefully he will stay the same colour because I love the colour he is now.
Some of the mutations are interesting with the two colours in one bird. Would love to breed IRNs but at the moment we arent even meant to have pets in our rental we snuck him in haha
Many thanks again

Re: Grey Green
I can finally post some links for my little fella!! Decided it was easier to post links as most of my pictures are too large to add to the forum.

Re: Grey Green
Oh wow! What an unusual colour! He actually looks a lot more "brownish" than the pics I've seen of Greygreen Cinnamon's.......maybe closer in colour to Cinnamon Turquoise Grey(?), but not sure.....he still young though, yes? and might colour up a bit different after a moult or two.
This is the pic where he looks the brownest - can't see any green tinge to him at all, just a yellowish wash over his wings, rump, and a slight tinge over his head.....
http://i1307.photobucket.com/albums/s59 ... 154137.jpg
What are your thoughts, Rod and Ben?

Re: Grey Green
Hey Deb,
I did think he was a bit unusual thats why I picked him, but you are right hes only 11 weeks old so he may change colour, Im hoping not because I love the colour he is now.
I took a few more pics in sunlight as much as I could (cant take him outside yet because we have a big hole in our fence where a car went through), the previous ones have been flash and darker rooms.
http://i1307.photobucket.com/albums/s59 ... 113510.jpg
http://i1307.photobucket.com/albums/s59 ... 113445.jpg
This last one is with a flash
http://i1307.photobucket.com/albums/s59 ... 094645.jpg
To me he seems green (where I see the green is above his beak the most and a bit on his wings) brown (in his tail) with just a little yellow around his legs but Im not exactly an expert haha
Thanks for your thoughts,
Still has me stumped haha

Hey Ben,
I think you've solved the puzzle I just had a bit of a google images on grey turquoise cinnamon and they do look very similar/the same. He was in a cage with some grey/silver and blue ringnecks at the petshop, wonder if they were all from the same breeder.
LOVE love the cinnamon's wings in your second link. Beautiful!!
Im falling more and more in love with these birds everyday I dont think I'll ever get sick of looking at new photos of these little fellas
Thanks for having a look for me.

Re: Grey Green
Hi Ben and Fi,
Ben - So you think Grey Turquoise Cinnamon too? ( I think I had it backward - Cinnamon Turquoise Grey?- but then I am in WA, and they say we're a bit backward here)
Those Cinnamon WHWT's are gorgeous!! I can only dream of owning/breeding that quality of IRN one day, (if my husband will ever relent and let me! Oh, and if we have the right property/facilities etc etc etc)
Fi - (quote)"I've been reading all these posts about breeding/mutations and have to say Im getting a bit jealous makes me want to get in on the action too!!" (end quote)....... I'm hearing ya! I've become soooo addicted to this site, and to studying the genetics and different mutations of these birds! It's so fascinating! But to quote one of the other breeders, breeding IRN's is a game of patience! If I'm ever lucky enough to be able to get into it on a moderate to large scale though, I'd like to be armed with as much info as possible, and ensure that I make the right choices in breeding stock too
And it's quite possible your bird and the others were from the same parents, if the others were grey/silver and blue......the grey/silver is actually grey cinnamon, and your bird has cinnamon also. Here is a possible combination that could produce all 3 of those colours in chicks;
1.0 grey(sf) blue cinnamon
x 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue
% from all 1.0
25.0% 1.0 grey(sf) blue /cinnamon
25.0% 1.0 blue /cinnamon
25.0% 1.0 grey(sf) turquoise(parblue)Blue /cinnamon
25.0% 1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue /cinnamon
% from all 0.1
25.0% 0.1 grey(sf) blue cinnamon
25.0% 0.1 blue cinnamon
25.0% 0.1 grey(sf) turquoise(parblue)Blue cinnamon ****
25.0% 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue cinnamon
Which would mean you have a girl!! But really, that is just surmising....so don't take that as gospel!! They could have had different parents after all

Re: Grey Green
Haha I have no idea if its a boy or a girl. Im happy with either, but a boy would be cool just to see the ring develop but Im sold on little chevolski (what we named s/he) whatever s/he turns out to be
Im with you Deb if we ever need to breed ringnecks I dont think we will ever have to go anywhere else for information. I havent started getting into the genetics too much but I think when I come off nights I might start reading about it incase one day I might be lucky enough to start up breeding these gorgeous little creatures
