Today March 1, 2011 Gordy, one of my 3 indian ringnecks, died. I believe that Kahlua, his mate, killed him. He was 8 years old. My family and I am deeply saddened by this lose. He was a gentle and loving friend. He loved to say "Hello Gordy". We will miss him dearly.

Has anyone heard of the female killing the male????

They have been in the same cage for over 2 years. I don't understand why this happened now.

Hi there sorry for your loss,

It is very common for females to kill males but usually only if they are newly introduced and not if they have been together for years.

Had they been fighting recently?

How big was the cage they where in?

He may have also been ill it is possible for animals in general to sence illness etc and then kill that animal. (just a thought)

Thanks Glenn
