3rd day good news! weeee

After just having him 3 days, today Victor came to me and sat on my hand and shoulder. He has progressed so fast he's ahead of me. I really wasn't mentally prepared yet for what happened today. He took food by hand without hesitation, even when I opened the door today he didn't try to move away. I wasn't expecting this much progress this fast. So I opened his cage top this afternoon and he perched there for a little while. Then suddenly he flew over my head and landed on on Doodles cage, which was a big mistake. Before I could get to him, Doodles had him by the toe. Thank goodness it wasn't a bad injury, but did draw blood. So from now on I will have to cover Doodles cage while Victor is out and about. So this evening, I put Doodles to bed first then let Victor out for a while. Long story short, he flew to my arm which surprised me. Made his way up my arm to the back of the chair, then to my shoulder. He preened my hair a little and was close to my ear and face. I tell you I was a little nervous about it. I had not tried to touch him so far and was not sure what would happen. He got to the top of my head so I slid my hand under him and brought him forward. He mouthed my hand and arm with his beak but did so gently without biting down. (whew~ relief) I still did not try to pet him remembering everybody saying "take it slow, one step at a time", and I didn't want to ruin a good beginning with him by making a wrong move. He flew back to his cage (two feet away) and went inside. So I closed it and put him down for the night. ALL is WELL! and I'm such a happy camper.
My wish is that Victor and Doodles will become friends someday, but I won't hold my breath. Right now Doodles would eat him for breakfast if he had a chance. (very possessive)
Is it luck or is this normal for IRN to adjust so fast? At the pet store I did notice he was more outgoing and not overly shy as the white female was. Guess that's why I chose him even though he was 100.00 dollars more.
I'm following the advice you give on this site and it's very helpful. I'm not pushing for results and just letting him lead the way what he feels comfortable with and wants to give and when. It seems to be working. I wonder if him watching Doodles on my shoulder helped?
