so its coming into summer, and my IRN has been losing her feathers - its mostly been the small down underfeathers - finding them all over the house! however, a few feathers from her wings and now a tail feather have come out. She doesnt seem to be pulling them out, moreso theyre coming of their own accord, and its pretty much been opposite feathers (same ones from each wing). Im aware that its fairly unusual for IRNs to de-feather themselves aswell.

I know their generally malt as it gets warmer, but I wasnt aware that these main feathers came out aswell, so i thought i'd post a query about it. any help or recommendations?

Hi There yes they do loose flight an tail feathers and for a little while they will look very scruffy.

They wont loose all of them but in the first and second mults thyey will loose most of them.

I actually was expecting to see a dead bird when I looked in my aviary 2 of my hens were moulting and all I seen was feathers everywhere and thought something got them.
