I took home my 7 week old baby indian ringneck yesterday and she still hasnt made a noise except for small peeps when i turn off the light.... she also keeps nibbling on her feet

im just worried because she (not sure is shes a she but she looks like a she) doesnt want to leave me shoulder or my chest when im at home... when she sees me she tries to fly on me and goes straight to my shoulder... she wont even sleep in her cage... she flaps her wings till i come and get her out or she tries to jump out.

is this behaviour normal? :?

Hey there,

I'm new here, so i generally rely on others for advice, but i recently got an 8 week old IRN, and he also didnt make a sound at all...trust me, this passes....Yours will almost certainly learn to make noise (and a lot of it) on a saturday morning, particularly if you have had a big night out;-)

Jamie ( my IRN) also nibbles his feet from time to time, and I'd also like to know if that's normal.

Thanks guys and gals!

Justin

how long do you think it will take until its ready to make a sound?

I'm guessing a week or two.

What you should do is play the sound files of IRNs talking, you can find them in the 'articles' section.
I pressed play, and jamie started having a fat old chat to my laptop;-)

Let us know how it goes

Justin

from the sounds of things your baby hasa bonded well with you & loves you
birds are very social creatures & like to be with there "flock" (which is now you)
she was probably handreared with others the same age as her so she will also be very lonley hence the need to be close to you
for the not sleeping in her cage maybe try placing heer cage closer to where you spend the most time so she can see you from her cage
the feet nibbling is normal its they are grooming their feet
cant wait to see pics of her she sounds like a real charactor
