Hi there, My Father... about 3 months ago brought a breeding pair of IRN'S.
He made them a breeding box and they virtually moved in straight away
They would only come out to mate and eat.
Now they both spend all their time in there and only come out to eat....
For the last 2 weeks it sounds like they are rollling eggs around but then i have a look they are both in there in each corner sitting.. is it normal for the male to sit on the eggs and spend all his time in the nest box with the female?? we are extremely new to this and your advice would be very much appreciated

Are they a definate pair?
Does the male have his ring yet?
If they are both hens they can lay eggs and both will sit on them with no male.

Yes they are both a breeding pair and the male does have a distinct balck and red ring around his neck. ive check the box and they are both sitting on eggs... is that common ?? i could only see 3 eggs as the male was sitting on some in the corner of the box.

Hmm ok well i have to admit i have never seen a male sit on eggs before.
Some will get protective and always go in the nest box when you enter there space but if he is always in there sitting you can only wait and see if they hatch.
Ill ask a good friend if he has ever seen it before .
