Hi;
The delay between mating and the first egg is around 2 weeks when the animals are in full condition, with good hormonal impregnation, as when the eggs are taken out to put under fosters or when putting together in the middle of the breeding season 2 birds which were in visual contact for many weeks.
When considering birds which are together before the breeding season begins (more usual) the hormonal status of both birds are not really 100% synchronized (usually female takes longer) and the period between mounting and the first egg usually lasts for 3 or 4 weeks.
