Hi all

I have a skyblue cock bird that I bred to a silver hen. They bred one year and produced 4 eggs all which hatched. hatchlings were 3 skyblue and what seems to be a grey lacewing. Ive been looking around and found a photo in a book which looks like the male version of whatever sex my bird is.
I just want to know if it is possible for me to get a grey lacewing from this combination, or do i just have a funny coloured bird?

If the baby is a grey lacewing it must also be cinnimon.

Females cant be split lacewing (pallid), so if it is a lacewing then the the baby is female.

Thanks Glenn that was awesome!! I gather you used gencalc to get that, i couldnt fingure out how to get a silver (grey cinnamon sorry) hen to not have green in the calculation. I kept coming up with greygreen babies and that didn't happen!


Julie: i can't upload any photos cos i suck tech wise lol, but i can describe it a bit better! The bird has a white head, no visible neck ring, a pale grey body, and the very outer feathers on its wings are white, but they are kinda dappled looking when the wings are spread to fly, but that could just be the feathers being a bit ruffled i guess! The feet arent quite as dark as usual grey birds.

To get grey you need to put grey then blue on the gen calc.
Other wise it would diplay as green-grey.


To upload photos you need to use a photo bucket.

Dont worry neither did i until somebody explained it same as
Albino is blue ino
Lutino is ino.
The the same thing happens with violet.

Aand regards to the othe question for Lutino SL or NSL hope fully Recio will answer cause i dont under stand it at all.
I use Gencalc for colours.

Okay, so if i were to breed my grey (sf) blue pallid cinnamon hen (silver lacewing) to a known Blue/ino cock bird: I would visually get:

Does that mean the last hen is albino?

Yep as long as by Blue/ino you mean a viual Blue bird split to ino and not an Albino

These are all visual colours ( no splits shown). So what is a grey (df) ino?

Im not sure i cant find any photos on it maybe somebody else could help.

So where did you get these results from?.
Btw: a grey ino is a lutino who is masking the grey factor.
