Feather of the same Father, can they breed together?

Post by Billit »

Hi there, I have a pair of Green IRN from the same father and mother (same hatching or same clutch), and they seems to be getting along now. They've started to show some courting behaviours. Is this pairing a good breeding practice? Will they yield a healthy offsprings? I just want to clarify.

DO NOT INBREED :!: SEPARATE THEM IF YOU WANT TO BREED FIND AN UNRELATED BIRD TO PAIR WITH ONE OF THEM :)

You can do this, but i would strongly recommend you don't, there are a few risks with in-breeding

This is not line breeding it's Inbreeding, line breeding is breeding cousins together where as Inbreeding is breeding siblings together. Both of which should only be done when you have a very high knowledge of genetics and know the linage of the birds/animals for many (6-7) generations.
