Hello,
My I've had my IRN gene for about a month now and he/she is great, not sure on gender when i first got s/him s/he would cock s/his wings back and pin s/his eyes and chirp and make cute/odd noises.
I've tried to read up but i can't find much, Mainly i just want to know if it's good or bad? I have a clear recording of it and it's on youtube.
youtube()com/watch?v=-r-Hy15T7C4&feature=youtu.be replace () with a . dot
Gene does it when s/he's calm and excited while learning tricks so i hope its a happy thing

My Ringneck does that too. Especially when I am praising and giving head scratches. I dont know the gender of mine either but s/he is about 1 year old. PS this wouldn't let me post with the word (s e x) in it so i had to changed it gender. Ridiculous

How old is gene? I think that's baby behaviour. I think that's the same kind of behaviour gene would present to his parents.
When I read your description I had thought it was female mating behaviour but having watched the video, I think it's baby behaviour. However, I'd be interested to hear what others say.
Oh, and here's the link to the video for others:

Thanks Ellie, I think gene is roughly 6 months old now. He pins his eyes, arches and chirpes, he does it when i feed him a treat (seed) sometimes and when i tickle him. I can't see a ring yet either, Also - when i watch videos on youtube of peoples grown IRN's they're always alert and their feathers are tight, but gene is always loose feathered and fluffy. I thought they only went fluffy when they were resting or calming down?

Hi Tom
I think it's based in baby behaviour.... the chirps remind me a little of baby chirps... so I think he is transitioning from his baby ways to being an adult.
Fluffy just means your bird is relaxed and comfortable.
Enjoy it! He's very cute!
