No tail question

Post by Snowe »

I purchased my 3? y/o lutino irn in January and at the time, he didn't have his tail feathers. I've been waiting for them to grow in but so far nothing. He does sometimes get little white fuzz feathers on his butt but then they're gone. When he's climbing upside-down on the top of his cage, you can clearly see his little bare bottom and it's like a giant pale-red scab. I never see him sit and just pick at his rump but that doesn't mean it's not happening. Not having a tail doesn't seem to bother him and I never see his bare butt all bloody so I'm not really worried, just wondering if anyone else has any experience with such a thing. He's also missing parts off 3 of his toes on one foot though that doesn't stop him from getting around. =x He's a special fella who I also have kept flighted {I feel like it helps his self esteem lol }

Hi. My 3yo male also has no tail. He looks rather cute. His occured from him breaking his tail feathers so often and it caused alot of bleeding at the time but now they just dont grow. He also has a little pink bottom which he wiggles about quite happily. He doesnt pick at it and its not sore looking so Im not worried about it either. As long as they are happy and healthy then Im happy :-)

We have a dog with an extra toe and an extra nipple and a cat that had to have a leg amputated and has crooked front legs. We're all about the special ones haha so Mojo fits right in lol I don't think I've ever seen my little bare-butt banana bird in a sour mood. He must know he fits in!

He's terrified of hands inside his cage and goes to a corner if you get too close to the cage. I don't think I'll be able to take a picture of his butt - I only get to see it when he climbs around upside down and if you approach him, he'll go hide on a perch.
