sunflower seeds (PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!)

Hi ,
4 days ago i got a handraised 8 week old fully weened IRN, he will eat fruit and veges but the only thing he touches in his seed mix are the sunflower seeds? is this bad? ideas and opinons would be very appreciated !

You need to increase the variety of food. Add cooked corn and peas to his daily diet. In your fruit and veg mix add a little parakeet pellet preparation available. Maintain controlled portions of all his food especially sunflower. You could also sprout a sunflower and pea mix for him occasionally.

he does eat peas and corn already and i have pellets here aswell so will try him on these. he just wont eat any other seed except the sunflower seeds ?

What I would do is get a plain Budgie seed mix with no Sunflower seeds in it and feed that. Then if you like you can feed seperately the Sunflower seeds maybe once a week in a small quantity (table spoon full)then when they are gone there is no more till the next week. I have been feeding my birds this way even during breeding season. It will save you seed too as he wont be throwing the other seed out to get to the Sunflower seed.

thankyou for that idea! I will do that today also what are your opinions on how to feed fruit and veges.... should i feed seed and fruit and vegetabes in seperate dishes? or take seeds out and only feed fruit and veges at a certain time of the day n put seed back in after? Thankyou

I would have Budgie seeds and or pellets available all the time. Feed Sunflower every now and again. Use a seperate bowl for fresh fruit and Vege and remove any uneaten Fruit or Vege a few hours later.
