what colour is this female baby
Hi after learning how to use the genetic calculator, thanks to mikeb for all the help, I started playing around with it trying to find out what to match my greygreen female to and decided to try a Lutino male to my greygreen female and came up with this
1.0 ino
x 0.1 grey(sf) green
% from all 1.0
50.0% 1.0 grey(sf) green /ino
50.0% 1.0 green /ino
% from all 0.1
50.0% 0.1 grey(sf) ino
50.0% 0.1 ino
Calculated on 11 Jun 2011 08:01:16 , Prague
What I would like to know is what will the grey(sf) ino female baby look like and what colour is it and does any one have a pic of what this bird should look like
Thanks
Lushen

Re: what colour is this female baby
Well I guess the best is to get myself a lutino male and mate it to the grey green female, until I get that grey(sf) ino female baby to see what it looks like

Hi it will look white,
The ino gene will mask the grey colour.
Thanks Glenn

"it will look white" Wrong, because no blue gen is involved.dog_glenn123 wrote:Hi it will look white,

"The ino gene will mask the grey colour." Yeah, here you are right.
So in conclusion a greygreen ino looks like a normal lutino (ino). but such a bird gets rid of the green shine which is typical seen on a lutino body (same for albino but they have a blue shine on the body).

Yeah Lutino isn't a bad choice. But in most cases greygreens are split for blue. So to test if your bird is split for blue and to get the most varied offspring i would say pair her up with a male albino (albino = ino blue). So you would get the following offspring:Lushen1600 wrote:Hi after learning how to use the genetic calculator, thanks to mikeb for all the help, I started playing around with it trying to find out what to match my greygreen female to and decided to try a Lutino male to my greygreen female and came up with this

hen not split for blue:
1.0 blue ino x 0.1 grey(sf) green
% from all 1.0
50.0% 1.0 grey(sf) green /blue ino
50.0% 1.0 green /blue ino
% from all 0.1
50.0% 0.1 grey(sf) ino /blue (visual ino without green shine)
50.0% 0.1 ino /blue
hen split for blue:
1.0 blue ino x 0.1 grey(sf) green /blue
% from all 1.0
25.0% 1.0 grey(sf) blue /ino (visual grey)
25.0% 1.0 blue /ino
25.0% 1.0 grey(sf) green /blue ino
25.0% 1.0 green /blue ino
% from all 0.1
25.0% 0.1 grey(sf) blue ino (visual albino without blue shine)
25.0% 0.1 blue ino (visual albino)
25.0% 0.1 grey(sf) ino /blue (visual ino without green shine)
25.0% 0.1 ino /blue
Or if you can get one then you can pair up your hen with cremeino (turquoise albino) male.
Then the offspring is:
1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue ino x 0.1 grey(sf) green /blue
% from all 1.0
12.5% 1.0 grey(sf) green /turquoise(parblue) ino
12.5% 1.0 green /turquoise(parblue) ino
12.5% 1.0 grey(sf) blue /ino
12.5% 1.0 blue /ino
12.5% 1.0 grey(sf) green /blue ino
12.5% 1.0 green /blue ino
12.5% 1.0 grey(sf) turquoise(parblue)Blue /ino
12.5% 1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue /ino
% from all 0.1
12.5% 0.1 grey(sf) ino /turquoise(parblue)
12.5% 0.1 ino /turquoise(parblue)
12.5% 0.1 grey(sf) blue ino
12.5% 0.1 blue ino
12.5% 0.1 grey(sf) ino /blue
12.5% 0.1 ino /blue
12.5% 0.1 grey(sf) turquoise(parblue)Blue ino
12.5% 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue ino

Re: what colour is this female baby
Hi Madas, as for the genetics of these greygreen birds, I need to find out about them as I bought them recently from our bird club chairman, but won't be able to breed them this year as they are last season's birds. I do however have 2 females so I can try next year, maybe one with a lutino male and one with an albino male to see what happens.
Thanks for all the info
