how do you make olive babies
Hi wanted to know how to make olive babies if I don't have olive parents. I do have a greygreen cock and a greygreen hen at my disposal, can I mate these birds with other colours to make olive babies and if so what colour would I mate them with

Re: how do you make olive babies
Hi there, your grey greens will look olivish, but if you want a true olive then you need to
mate either of them with a dark factor bird (cobalt) to get olive which is a green dark factor.
Thanks Glenn

Re: how do you make olive babies
They would be as follows.
1.0 grey(sf) green
x 0.1 grey(sf) green
% from all 1.0
25.0% 1.0 grey(df) green
50.0% 1.0 grey(sf) green
25.0% 1.0 green
% from all 0.1
25.0% 0.1 grey(df) green
50.0% 0.1 grey(sf) green
25.0% 0.1 green
DF = double factor, which means they should be a bit darker.
SF = single factor
Ta Glenn

Re: how do you make olive babies
Hi i will explain it in the basic way to make it easy to understand, if others want to add the technical discription they can.
Double factor is basically 2 of the same colour gene which will change the result of the offspring outcome.
Dark factor is a seperate gene that makes the bird usually look darker.
It does have different effect on certain colours,
Eg, Blue is darker blue, green usually goes olive, in grey you should see much difference.
Thanks Glenn
