Three weeks on an still skiddish

Hi all. We have had Watson for three weeks now. He came from a local pet shop where we saw him, and wanted to rescue him as he looked really sad. We also thought he would be company for our amazon. They are in different cages. He is eating well and is very active. But he is still very scared of us when putting food in his bowls. We sit near his cage and talk gently to him. So we will go at his pace. Can anyone tell me their story about an aviary bird being tamed and how long it took. I understand it is going to take time and we have as long as it takes. Just would be nice to hear some positive stories even if it did take a long time. He has started chirping more which is good. Cheers
