Are these birds split to anything
Hi a breeder has these birds up for sale and does not know the history of their parents, would like to know if they are split to any thing, here is the info that I have. The male is visually grey and the female is visually sky blue. They produce 2 grey, 1 sky blue and 1 albino baby last season, not sure of the sex of the babies cos he didn't have them sexed. What would the parents be split to and would it be worthwhile in me investing in this pair as it is coming at a reasonable price

Hi
When you say sky blue, is that a normal blue, cinnamon or what?
if normal blue here is what they would produce with the male split ino:
1.0 grey(sf) blue /ino
x 0.1 blue
% from all 1.0
25.0% 1.0 grey(sf) blue /ino
25.0% 1.0 blue /ino
25.0% 1.0 grey(sf) blue
25.0% 1.0 blue
% from all 0.1
25.0% 0.1 grey(sf) blue ino
25.0% 0.1 blue ino
25.0% 0.1 grey(sf) blue
25.0% 0.1 blue

ino is a sex-linked mutation, so females can't be split for ino. if they carry the ino gen then it must be expressed by their phenotype. So the only possibility to get albino offspring from grey x sky blue (cinnamon blue) is then the male is split for ino. And then the albino must be a female. So here comes the hole possible offspring:
1.0 grey(sf) blue /ino x 0.1 blue cinnamon
% from all 1.0
25.0% 1.0 grey(sf) blue /cinnamon (visual grey)
25.0% 1.0 blue /cinnamon
25.0% 1.0 grey(sf) blue /ino cinnamon (visual grey)
25.0% 1.0 blue /ino cinnamon
% from all 0.1
25.0% 0.1 grey(sf) blue (visual grey)
25.0% 0.1 blue
25.0% 0.1 grey(sf) blue ino (snow white albino)
25.0% 0.1 blue ino (albino)

Thanks Madas. So what's the difference between an albino and a snow white albino?

Re: Are these birds split to anything
A normal Albino could show fine blue shine over the body. But if an albino carries the grey factor these blue shine is mostly gone. the same for lutino but with green shine.Lushen1600 wrote:Thanks Madas. So what's the difference between an albino and a snow white albino?
