female has thrown out an egg!!!

Post by diz-awn »

What should I do? Leave her be? She has not hatched out any babies , this is her second time, so I wonder if she is just not mommy type, but I was wondering this,
I got a pair of doves that breed like rabbits and thought that maybe i could slip the I.R. eggs under the dove cause all she wants to do is sit and the I.R. eggs look just like dove eggs. so should I just ride it out and see what my girl does or should I try the dove? I really want to save these eggs

considering this is her second time, i would just put it with the dove, was your female a hand fed one, if she was then its not that surprising.
either way you should use the doves to incubate it.

If the eggs are fertile, you could try and put it with the Doves. My only concern is the incubation time for the two different species.
Doves eggs hatch after 2-3 weeks?
Ringneck eggs hatch after 24 days

Also, if the eggs do hatch under the dove, you are going to have to handraise them yourself from day 1.

well, she threw them all out!
and they are all cracked!
so we are going to try a bigger box
Male is dancing for her and still feeding
could there be a second chance?
