Probably he has moult and then the turquoise has become more apparent. Both of your birds are really beautiful but the male is splendid.
DNA can only speak about the sex (male) but, at present, there is not any DNA test available to test for either visual or split colours. Colours can be determined by some experts by looking at the feather structure and the melanin granules shape and distribution.his parents are hen pastel blue cock pastel cobolt and he is dna info says he is pastel cobolt
Your male pastel cobalt is, in genetical words, turquoise-blue- SFdark.i am going to put him with a pastelblue next season can anyone tell me what they will produce.
Your female pastel blue is probably a turquoise-blue
The offspring you can expect is as follows for both males and females:
3.5% 1.0 D turquoise(parblue)Blue D_bl/D+_bltq; ........ pastel cobalt
3.5% 1.0 D blue D_bl/D+_bl; ................................. cobalt
25.0% 1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue D+_bl/D+_bltq; ........ pastel
3.5% 1.0 turquoise(parblue) D+_bltq/D+_bltq; ............ pastel (DF turquoise)
21.5% 1.0 D turquoise(parblue)Blue D_bltq/D+_bl; ....... pastel cobalt
21.5% 1.0 D turquoise(parblue) D_bltq/D+_bltq; .......... pastel cobalt (DF turquoise)
21.5% 1.0 blue D+_bl/D+_bl; ................................ blue
The "strange" % you obtain are due to a crossing over phenomenon between D and blue, and D and turquoise, because the locus of D and the locus of the alleles blue-turquoise are in the same cromosome. Do not pay attention to the last sentence if you do not understand it. Just keep in mind the results above.
Good luck
