How to make a nesting box

Post by Rueae »

The topic pretty much explains what I'm asking for. :P
I'm new to this and would do the trial and error thing, but...this site is a great resource so...
Can I get some instructions? .3.

A bird does not sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song.

12" x 12" x 24" deep with a hole about 2-1/2" to 3"" around and on the inside of the side with the hole attach a piece of wood about 1/2" square about 4"" long just under hole and about 6" from the bottom and attach a piece of cage wire between the 2 to make a ladder for the hen to climb down into box and make a door on the side or back of the box witch ever is easiest for you to get to when it's hanging on the cage about 6" from the bottom about 6" tall so you can inspect or remove babies and also clean out box good luck mike :)

here is a pretty simple box to make . for the lid use a nail on each side (going through sides of top into lid to act as a pivot point for lid) . i would highly recomend getting a staple gun if you dont have one, they are really good for the sides ect.

I'm not gonna lie, what you're saying about pivot points for the lid is confusing me alittle.
I can't picture it. :T
