Genetics Question

Post by tangy1 »

Hi,
I have a genetics question about a pairing and resulting young.
Cock- Grey Pallid (lacewing) x Hen-turquiose (pastel) grey pallid (lacewing)

I beleive I will get all grey Pallids (lacewing) SF & DF. And they will be all Split Turquiose (pastel)

Am I correct or could anyone shed some thoughts? :)

You will get the following assuming they are not split already.

1.0 is the male
0.1 is the female

1.0 grey(sf) blue pallid
x 0.1 grey(sf) turquoise(parblue) pallid
% from all 1.0
25.0% 1.0 grey(df) turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid
50.0% 1.0 grey(sf) turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid
25.0% 1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid
% from all 0.1
25.0% 0.1 grey(df) turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid
50.0% 0.1 grey(sf) turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid
25.0% 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid

I have 1 more for you.
Cock- grey pallid. Hen- greygreen pallid.
I'm don't know if they are split for anything or not. This season will tell.
Cheers guys.

1.0 grey(sf) blue pallid

% from all 1.0
25.0% 1.0 grey(df) turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid
50.0% 1.0 grey(sf) turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid
25.0% 1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid
% from all 0.1
25.0% 0.1 grey(df) turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid
50.0% 0.1 grey(sf) turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid
25.0% 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid
These results are only correct if your hen is homozygot for turquoise. but i don't think she is homozygot.
So here are the results for a normal hetereozygot turquoise:

1.0 grey(sf) blue pallid
x 0.1 grey(sf) turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid
% from all 1.0
12.5% 1.0 grey(df) blue pallid
25.0% 1.0 grey(sf) blue pallid
12.5% 1.0 blue pallid
12.5% 1.0 grey(df) turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid
25.0% 1.0 grey(sf) turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid
12.5% 1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid
% from all 0.1
12.5% 0.1 grey(df) blue pallid
25.0% 0.1 grey(sf) blue pallid
12.5% 0.1 blue pallid
12.5% 0.1 grey(df) turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid
25.0% 0.1 grey(sf) turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid
12.5% 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid

As you can see the half is with turquoise and the other half is not.

You second pairing should give you the following offspring:

hen is not split for blue:

1.0 grey(sf) blue pallid
x 0.1 grey(sf) pallid
% from all 1.0
25.0% 1.0 grey(df) pallid /blue (grey green bird)
50.0% 1.0 grey(sf) pallid /blue (grey green bird)
25.0% 1.0 pallid /blue (green bird)
% from all 0.1
25.0% 0.1 grey(df) pallid /blue (grey green bird)
50.0% 0.1 grey(sf) pallid /blue (grey green bird)
25.0% 0.1 pallid /blue (green bird)

hen is split for blue:

1.0 grey(sf) blue pallid
x 0.1 grey(sf) pallid /blue
% from all 1.0
12.5% 1.0 grey(df) blue pallid (grey bird)
25.0% 1.0 grey(sf) blue pallid (grey bird)
12.5% 1.0 blue pallid
12.5% 1.0 grey(df) pallid /blue (grey green bird)
25.0% 1.0 grey(sf) pallid /blue (grey green bird)
12.5% 1.0 pallid /blue (green bird)
% from all 0.1
12.5% 0.1 grey(df) blue pallid (grey bird)
25.0% 0.1 grey(sf) blue pallid (grey bird)
12.5% 0.1 blue pallid
12.5% 0.1 grey(df) pallid /blue (grey green bird)
25.0% 0.1 grey(sf) pallid /blue (grey green bird)
12.5% 0.1 pallid /blue (green bird)
