need some advice on biting

Post by mick »

Hi all. I have a irn (pippin)who we think is coming up three yrs old. I have spent alot of time with her lately. She will step up and down on a dowl. I can feed her by hand and finger tip. But stepping up onto my hand results in me bleeding after an attack. I know she is a rescued bird and i haven't had two long. Just seems like i take one step forward with her and the next day three back , if you know what i mean. Any advice would be fantastic...

That's great that you can have her step up
but what you need to do now is once you
got her to step up bring her away from her
cage & spend as much time as you can.

Try ignoring the biting. Don’t make a fuss don’t make any drama out of it. They love the drama at attention! She is done the bluffing stage so this is who she is right now and you may have to accept she is going to be a biter. Spend as much time with her as you can, this will keep her from regressing.
