Claws / Nails Question

Post by sheyd »

What is the easiest way to tell if your IRN's nails are too long? :?:

Cheers.

It's uncomfortable to have the bird stand on you? It gets stuck on fabrics when it climbs around?

No and no, but he's always chewing at them.

I think some people use nail clippers..I never would though- I would add more natural barky branches and calcium perches.

I'll take a picture of them--tell me if they're too long?

Okay, here they are:

Oh he's such a little sweety! :D

They're definitely getting up there, I'd say. I usually towel my guy and take a couple mm off the ends with a nail clipper, being careful to avoid the quick. Two people make quick work of it and a treat afterwards makes him forget all about it.

Mine usually starts to chew on his nails and shortly thereafter he starts to get stuck on me and on other fabrics. Grooming perches and stuff just don't seem to do much.
