Hi from Birmingham Uk

Post by jakies13 »

Hi all my name is alex, im female and was thinking of buying a ringneck or 2 as companions.
I have experience with other birds but not ringnecks.
I am living in a flat at the moment so am wondering whether a ringneck would be suitable as i have neighbours above and below me.
So are IRN too noisy to keep in a flat/appartment or would they be ok.
I will most probably have a pair so would two be noisy?

Hi jenny.

I guess it all depends on just how much time you are able to spend with your IRNs and how bored they get as to if they will be noisy or not. Also how fussy your neighbours are and how thin the walls are lol
I have a few indoor ones and over all, they are fairly quiet. They do their little "whisper" chatterings throughout the day but can get a bit noisy come closer to dinner time.

The avairy birds are fairly similar, just more of them so they sound a bit louder lol.

Noisy ringnecks

Post by Janet »

Hi,

I have four ringnecks who live in a cage in my dining room/lounge room. They chatter throughout the day but they are quite quiet. The only time they are noisy is when I am cooking dinner. They can see me in the kitchen from their cage and they get a bit vocal then. But even with four, the noise is not unbearable and they rarely all shout together. I have noticed that other birds have much more ear-splitting voices than my ringnecks.

Welcome !! I personally couldn't imagine owning my fids if I lived in a flat, they can be rather noisey at times. But I guess that could be because there are a few of them all calling and answering each other. I have really forgotten what it is like to have just one .. lol
