Sasha!
So for some reason my pics are showing up over produced in light from te flash and it's too dark not to use flash...so here goes. Here's my nervous, neurotic, scraggly new fid Sasha Better pics to come!
It's sooo funny watching Jasmine and him "interact" She'll be on her side of the cage pacing back and fourth as to protect her territory then she'll crouch down like she's going to jump onto him cage and I'll yell, "NO!" and she'll stop and look at me and go to the other side of her cage for a little bit. I am so blessed with a good little ekkie most of the time
Sasha is already out of the corner of his cage and exploring. I'm glad. He is just such a scaredy-bird I thouogh he's never move from the top. i have not gotten him out since I put him in there because I do not want to grab at him. I want him to come out on his own but I am not letting him and Jazzy out at the same time. It's going to take some time with this boy....He doesn't even know step up. He'd rather fall backwards on the finger than step up.

Hey everyone,
Does he look scrawny to y'all? I forgot to weigh him before I took him home yesterday because I was leaving the Aviary in a rush. Allergies. I'm not normally allergic to birds but what ever is blooming out has my antihistimines high in my body so even when I got scratched it would swell up The baby B&g were making me sneeze and that scared them. What was the point of me being there?
Anyhow, he hasn't eaten a darn thing since I brough him home yesterday. Has only poo'd once and will flip out when we put a hand toward him. He is scared to death when we hold him. You can see it in his face and eyes. He'll lean hard into your hand to get away from you. He won't eat from my hand....is this the same bird as Baby was?! I have never owned an untamed bird. It's rather disheartening. I thought he'd lighten up when I got him home.

He's just scared
Give him a few days, that old curious IRN personality will win out.
He'll warm up to you and you'll love him.
Nila was the same way, but younger than Sasha when I brought him home.
He was hand fed but not handled. And he took a few days but warmed up fast.
Hope it goes well.
Hope you feel better

Missi - he is gorgeous and looks very pretty in the pictures.
Don't worry as he gets used to things he will settle down some. It sounds like he had a real big change going from a small tank with one perch to a nice big cage with toys and lots of perches.
After he gets more used to things - when you try working on step up and put your finger where the legs meet the abdomen - if he still is not quite sure about it pressin on his belly some and see if that will get him to step up - if not kind of loosen the grip he has on your finger and press again. This normally will make them put their foot on your other finger.
If you aren't already use a phrase like Step Up everytime you wnat him to step up. It seems to help also and indicates what you want him to do.
Good luck with him.
Just remember a little bit at a time and he will get there.
