Ringneck Newbie!

Post by mdcorbett »

Hi Everyone,

I was hoping I may pick your brain for a couple of things.

New to Ringnecks but do have and have had their big brothers the Alexandria Parrot many times (Paulie 5yr old cranky pants is my other feather child).

I just bought home my new little 4/5 week old IRN - and he is so ugly! but so cute in his own way haha. No feathers yet but starting to come through.

He has been parent raised thus far so hand raising from now!

My first question is, I believe he is nice and warm and comfortable in suitable bedding.

What would be a normal breath rate to gauge for this little fellow?

I believe I should be feeding him 6:00am, 11:30am, 5:00pm, 10:30 pm (ish) each day at his current age. Would you do more or less and is this reasonable between feeds (obviously if his crop is still enlarged I won't feed him until a little later or until he wants it)

Hopefully they are the only questions for now, but I am sure I will have more in the very (very) near future!

Thanks heaps for you help, Mitch.
