I drew his birdiness!
kind of...
Obviously I am not a visual artist, but I got inspired by Nila playing with his water colours and decided to get out my coloured pencils.
I've just discovered that my boyfriend leaves his photobucket account logged in on his computer, so now I can post photos all by myself!
I want to learn to draw simple colour cartoons of birdies now. Nila is always being cute and funny.

Thanks guys.
I'd love to make Nila comic strips! He's so funny.
My favourite sequence, which is too tricky for me to draw, is the one where he climbs into my handbag when I'm not looking and disappears. I then spend ages running around the house calling him and panicking, while he quietly consumes my wallet and anything else he finds in there! I'm getting better at checking in my handbag before I start freaking out, but he still catches me out sometimes.

Hahaha! Bird in the handbag sounds like very fertile ground. You can do that. Just go one bit at a time, and don't draw distracted. We'll be delighted if you do!

I got a mental visual of Nila and you playing Hide and Seek

A promising artistic career ends in tragic circumstances:Melika wrote:Will we have a monthly Nila comic now?
Though I am also considering the caption "Dave and Claire realised that Nila was different from other children when he started eating pencils.."

Oh, I get it now. I wish he'd tell me before the game starts!Skyes_crew wrote:I got a mental visual of Nila and you playing Hide and Seek
I'll keep trying and maybe one day I'll get it. He probably has whole adventures in there. .. Maybe it's like the wardrobe to Narnia for him. The ringneck, the witch and the handbag.MissK wrote:Hahaha! Bird in the handbag sounds like very fertile ground. You can do that. Just go one bit at a time, and don't draw distracted. It is frightfully hard not to get distracted when there is a little parrot doing a beakhang from the end of the pencil!

Oh no. I feel I have contributed to the decline in content and language on this forum!
I'll discipline Nila over being so cute when I try to draw him!

We are working on a video for you, Melissa.... I had the best idea ever! I just need to get dave and nila to cooperate with me and rehearse together. ... They have learnt their parts separately already, so hopefully it'll work. ..

Re: I drew his birdiness!
I pulled out the remains of my pencils today and drew a Nila pic, Dave liked it and wanted to hang it in his office so I gave it to him. When I stopped by his work later I found he had hung it in Nilas work cage! I think we need to caption it with "I am currently at home, eating the cornices, please call again later."
Then I tried to draw Sapphire. It wasn't successful, besides the fact that all the blues are wrong, she makes mince meat of coloured pencils in less time than it takes you to blink!
Ringnecks don't make good still life arrangements! it might have worked better if I had placed her in the fruit bowl

I am glad l was able to see your etchings Claire, they are very good. Have you thought of sending samples of your work to birdy magazines?

I attempted to paint a Sapphire picture with acrylics today, not a good idea when sapphire is in the room! She flew down to the pallette on the ground and attempted to eat the paint! I hope she doesn't die! I figure that since she survived eating our cactus last week, non toxic paint will probably be soothing for her digestive system anyway.

I know I am new here, but My Goodness those are some AWESOME drawings, I wish I could draw even just half as good as that but drawing beyond stick figures is not in the deck of cards for me.
Would LOVE to see more or even a Nila cartoon strip would be neat. VERY NICE drawings, and very nice subject I might add.

Re: I drew his birdiness!
lol I LOVE it, such a good job in not only the physical drawing but being able to draw their personalities also. I could look at them all day.
Re: I drew his birdiness!
What a great picture! the drawing is great, but I love how both the birds are looking at the camera like they are saying--we don't do that!
Re: I drew his birdiness!
What do you put in your tea Claire? any way well done.
Re: I drew his birdiness!
Ranechild, my birds always look innocent and harmless. They achieve this by not understanding the word "no". That expression in Sapphires eye actually means "I did that!!! I did good, didn't I?!". She thinks "oh you horrid bird!" Is the highest praise.
Nila is a bit sulky because he doesn't like sharing the camera with Sapphire.
Aj: Ringnecks usually.
