That picture of the green dominant pied Mature cock looked great. If my 2012 green dominant pied matures like him I will be very happy.

I guess everyone is asking in hope that they have Opaline in their Pieds.

We can all dream but this is so easy to answer

From a Harlequin Opaline male you should breed Opaline hens with & without pieds.


When you breed one Opaline hen then you have confirmation of the pied being Opaline.
Accept the fact that Harlequins have a head same as Opaline

If Opalines were in abundance and would cost $50ea no one would say my pied might have opalines.
so we can see why we think like this

All i'm saying Phenotype is not the way to identify but breeding results !

Hope we can see some Opalines bred from pieds, it would be a nice bonus.
I keep an eye on pieds offspring too

Willy, I asked that exact same question! And it turns out my opalines breed with a sex-linked recessive inheritance model. I do not have a harlequin though. Do you think we can confirm it as incomplete dominant from existing breeding results in Oz yet?

So what is your opinion regarding the color of the neckring? I thought dom. pieds have a grey neckring and not a black one. So is your first assumption "opalin rec. pied" correct???
