what colour is my new babies mum??
Can someone who is confident in their mutations give me an email to send a photo through. I am handrearing my new baby. His father is blue. Mother is "different" type of green and I and the breeder need help identifying her mutation, also to determine what our babies will be. Please help

(photobucket is playing up- so could only post a link)
looks like she's a TurquoiseBlue
so, you'll get Blue or TurquoiseBlue babies from that pairing.

Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
Oh wow!! If your suspicions are right what are we expecting the two chicks to possibly be? Mate is a blue.
Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
so, Blue x TurquoiseBlue will give you 50% Blue and 50% TurquoiseBlue offspring in both sexes
Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
Sorry got excited. Thanks for letting me know babies colours
Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
We each have one baby from the clutch. They are currently 2 weeks and 5 days old. We are so excited to see what colour we each get. Starting to pin now. I have sent a photo of my baby I took today to your email,

I haven't received it yet?
It's exciting isn't it? I'm awaiting for my own babies to feather up (they're two weeks today) I'm like a little kid at Christmas lol

Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
My guess is your baby is blue
I am owned by my birds...and I wouldn't have it any other way
Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
Yes there are two babies. Only one with me though. I thought you were thinking the two photos were of two babies that's all.
Well we have a bit of colour!! Two pins showing feathers through on wings and showing colour on tail. In normal light they look blue. Under a flash with the camera they are aqua green. So I'm stumped. Lol will have to wait longer

Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
Has the other baby broken a feather yet.... bet its turquoise as well...cause the hen is a DF Turquoise
Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
I agree with Bennjamin, hence my bold prediction.
however, pics are not the best so there's a chance the hen is turquoise blue

Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
I thought the hen was a turquoise blue? If she's a turquoise that changes the results. The only thing she could get would be turquoise blues.

Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
Yea, more pics would be nice.
Most breeders don't have df parblue for a reason:
they use parblues to higher mutations, not having time to pair parblue X parblue
however, a remote or smaller breeder will rotate his own stock and chances of df birds are more likely to be found there.
on the other side, breeders with rarest mutations always bring in new blood/mutations so 2 parblues rarely meet as a pair.

Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
I will message my friend for a better shot of mum. They should get a better one now as no more babies in the box.
I've only got a photo of other baby before pinning so I'll ask for another of bub.
They are a deep aqua on the wings, more and more coming out over the day. On the tail I am getting baby blue type colour, same as under the wing... I do not know proper colour names for ringnecks I apologise.

Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
At the moment bush fires surrounding their property (lovely Australia) so birds have been moved to safety at their in laws. They will get photos on the next few days for me. Other baby has broken feathers, baby blue with a tint of green. So a very light aqua.
Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
Photos of my chick are all taken inside with a flash. Would it give a better perception of colour if I took him outside during the day and take a photo in natural light?
Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
Pics out side are more accurate- so yes.dan4nas wrote:Photos of my chick are all taken inside with a flash. Would it give a better perception of colour if I took him outside during the day and take a photo in natural light?
If they look 'aqua' very good chance both chicks are TurquoiseBlues
Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
So your still set on her being turquoise blue?
Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
nope, not without better picsdan4nas wrote:So your still set on her being turquoise blue?
Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
LOL ok. well by saturday chick will probably give you the indication of his colour anyhow.
What would the other possibility be of the hen, just a normal green?

Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
no, the other possibility is Turquoise -which is doublefactor (Homozygous)-will always pass on one copy to the resultant offspring.dan4nas wrote:LOL ok. well by saturday chick will probably give you the indication of his colour anyhow.

TurquoiseBlue is singlefactor (Hetrozygous)-may or may not pass on a copy to offspring
Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
I am reading that DF turquoise is much greener in body than the turquoise blue? I can tell you that the dam is a very vibrant green. There is no blue tinge to her green areas, and in the blue areas, different shades of blue from very light to a navy blue.
Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
Going off that photo she is much more like the bird on the left, however I would say her body is an even more vibrant green. flight feathers are the same... the tail, however, she has much darker blue feathers mixed in there. But definitely ALOT more like the bird on the left.
Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
Well there you go, sounds DF to medan4nas wrote:Going off that photo she is much more like the bird on the left, however I would say her body is an even more vibrant green. flight feathers are the same... the tail, however, she has much darker blue feathers mixed in there. Most DF turquoise mature birds we have grown on have very yellow sox and the underwing is a very rich yellow,
Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
I'm very excited to see all these feathers come out to see if you were all right
Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
New little feathers this morning, confusing me even more lol. Wings turning out to be blue, bright blue. flight feathers very vibrant green. tail is blue and under wings on the body is blue also. photos coming.
Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
She might be a Dark(factor) Turquoise or Dark TurquoiseBlue do you know what mutations her parents were?dan4nas wrote:Going off that photo she is much more like the bird on the left, however I would say her body is an even more vibrant green. flight feathers are the same... the tail, however, she has much darker blue feathers mixed in there. Re: what colour is my new babies mum??
He is getting some gorgeous colours!! I am guessing he will be much more blue looking than his mother though??? Those wing feathers are very blue, dam is very green in wings apart from flights.
