We keep our Quaker Parrot, Camo, on our shoulders at our house, but he also likes to hang out on our knees while we watch TV and play board games. TV time laying down he sits on my chest in prime scratch collecting position.
He always lands on the head and I move him to the shoulder. I find the only risk for poo in my hair is if I leave him on my head an extended period of time. The poo is icky. But what Camo the QP likes to do is pick at our faces--like zits and moles. ewwwww!!! I tell him everyday "No Faces" or "No eating faces" and make him step up. It still doesn't stop him.
I'm hoping our baby IRN, Fats, does not pick up this habit. We'll have him in 2 weeks and I'll have to gauge whether he'll go on my shoulder or not. Would LOVE to potty train him so he doesn't go on my shoulder.
