Grumpy IRN's

Post by xx_sheena_xx »

im very new to breeding IRN's. iv only had my pair for nearly one year, the hen has laid eggs before but they didnt hatch due to the weather. Latly i have seen my female in the box and when i go up to there aviery to feed them or to look at them the male start screaming at me and flying around and he looks like he is trying to swoop me. my dad saw them breed but that was over a month ago. do you think i can expect eggs?

Sure can! It’s about a two week wait after mating. Just give them privacy and do not disturb the nesting box—let the mama do her thing  .

The mother will lay one egg every other day until the clutch is complete.
When the babies hatch you’ll know as they are very vocal little guys and you can make the decision to pull for hand feeding around day 10.

Best Wishes  ,
