Dark spots on beak

Post by Harrold »

Hello everyone! This is my first time posting here!

I have a 4 year old female IRN, called Raffy. Recently (about 2-3 weeks ago) I noticed that she has an unusual dark spot on her beak. She has always had some dark coloring on her beak, however this one seems unnatural. I have been reading and people say that these spots can be natural changes, or caused by a variety of thing - from an unbalanced diet, through a bruise, to an infection or a disease, so I am worried. Does anyone have any experience with this? Should I take her to an avian vet?

Here is a picture of the left side of the beak, where the spot is:

And the right side for comparison:

She is currently molting, so she is looking a bit rough : (
She is on a mixed seed diet and I try to give her fruits and vegetables daily, though she doesn't always like them. I also give her vitamin supplements. I haven't seen her hit herself anywhere recently, though I'm not always at home.

I hope she is fine! Thank you in advance!

Looks like pigmentation to me, as it appears to have spread from the pigmentation already there.

I'm not qualified to speak, but it does look just like colour to me as well.
See if she will eat kale or collards.
