Deformity in my parrot's beak?

Post by jackieggn »

I have a 3 month old Alexandrine parrot (possibly female) named Palo. I had got it when it was 2 weeks old and has been hand fed.
Palo's beak seems to have deformity as it is developing cracks and is not completely round. The lower part of the upper beak has also turned grey\black. I am attaching some photos for reference.

I am not sure why this has happened as I had always provided good diet to her including fruits, vegetables, sprouts, etc.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks
Rajat

If I had to guess I would think that that will fix itself over time since their beaks are constantly growing

I would guess it is a deficiency of some sort from the early diet. I would go see an avian vet, if there is one in your area, or pm molossus on here if he hasn't noticed this thread.
