Surprise: I'm now a IRN owner

Post by Zenial »

So we built a 3m x 3m aviary this week, originally we intended to get rainbow lorekeets.

My husband came home with 2 x IRN (1 grey male, 1 yellow female) and 2 x male budgies for our kids. From what I'm reading this is a terrible mistake. That once the IRNs establish territory in there, we'll have a "last man standing" situation.

Online resources all speak in regards to having 1 IRN inside so I don't know how to deal with my problem. Kids will be crushed if their budgies get killed.

The IRN hen seemed to be doing a special song and dance this morning, ducking and weaving with her head tilted up. Is this notable behaviour?

Going out to get a tonne of bird toys.... talk soon, thanks for reading. @-)

They are beautiful!, by the time they settle in, hopefully they will be ok with the budgies, but when they mate it will be mayhem!, best keep the budgies seperate, perhaps indoors?
