Treats for training!

Post by Caitrose96 »

What do you feed your bird to motivate them? I feed mine corn but i'm finding it goes off quicker than he can eat an entire cob :/ Any other suggestions?

I have some birds that I train that I use passionfruit with. With my guys I use a mostly try to use things that don't go off too quickly - just for convenience. I use a combination of granulated nuts, pine nuts, sunflower seeds and oats groats (although mine aren't too keen on the oats groats!).

Rocky will work for Safflower seeds. I sometimes use already shelled Sunflower bits. He also likes individual seeds of millet. Until recently, the gold standard of treats was bits of Pecan. However, since I introduced all natural Peanut butter, that is the best thing he has ever tasted.

We use "slivered Almonds" found in the baking goods section at our local Wally World . They are also unsalted which is another plus, we open the bag and keep em in a small glass jar with a cover
Just takin a break !
