Changing diets

Post by mcgeet »

Yo what up guys?!!
Awesome forum for IRNs really helpful!
And I also need help now!
I got a 2-3 month old IRN and fed him apples on the third day I got him up until now(i got him april 24 and fed him apples on the 27th up until may 6 and the first and second day he was still hand fed).
So he got used to eating apples! Tried feeding carrots but its to hard for him(even though i boiled it) or he didnt like it. Tried also bananas mixed with apples but he just throws them away!
I tried also eating the fruit showing him he did looked interested but when he tries it he just backs away! O yeah btw he is tamed.
I will appreciate all the help thanks!!!!

I've found that apples are the Achilles heel for IRN's. they love them!! Do a search for IRN diet and you will come up with multiple threads that address your concerns and will give you tips on proper diet and introduction of new foods. Good luck :)
I am owned by my birds...and I wouldn't have it any other way :D

You may want to try dehydrated fruits, all the nutrients without water and not so messy.
Just another bird brain
