Can I house my Ringneck with a Senegal parrot?

Post by OllyGreen »

I have a year old Indian Ringneck and I'm going to be having a new parrot tomorrow which is a Senegal and was wondering if I could put them in the same cage or keep them separate? My grandad wants them in the same cage to keep each other company but I'm not sure that putting two different breeds in the same cage is a good idea? What do you guys think? :|

Can you? It's always possible. Is it wise? Probably not. Even a cockatiel can rip the beak off a budgie. It happens. Beaks, toes, feathers, etc. Senegals are peaceful somewhat shy birds and IRNs tend to be bossy. If they did fight it could end very badly for one or both of them.

I've been called 'birdbrained' before, but somehow I don't think this is what they meant. say:hah-nay
