Janey,

If you could share with us how old he/she is and from where you are we might be able to help more but that does look like a molt to me.

Kind regards,

Wessel

Hi Janey,

Is it possible to take a clearer photo, without the cage bars in the way? It looks like some unusual feather loss near the lower mandible, but it is hard to tell from that picture.
Does she have regular opportunities to bathe? My birds really like their showers when they are moulting.

He is 5 and half months old.. I'm from uk... he's got a large cage.. loads of toys and I spray mist him every day... he's not tame but will take food off me from my hand in his cage but he has gone more aggressive and biting me .. I'm so gutted

Yup, looks like a molt to me. I don't see feather damage. Besides, the feather loss that I see is around his beak and is a place that the bird cannot reach. Also, the first ringneck molt is usually light and seems to be on schedule.

I would not worry, honestly. He looks normal thus far.

I'll be looking forward for more pictures tomorrow! :)

Best Wishes,

Aw he's doing ok... coming to end of his moult.. All the feathers around the beak grown back.. vet says he in good health.. still biting but we are getting there... sits on my shoulder and head lol and this morning stepped up on my arm thickly protected I may add and sat there and ate a grape without biting.. when not at work he's out the cage and loving it.. was gonna get his wings clipped but his flight is so controlled and I think it has helped with the moulting... no bald patches .. ty for asking
