Genetics Question

Post by JemMuz »

Hi,
I have a female indian ringneck latino/albino and she is paired with a blue male. They have recently had 4 chicks, 3 have red eyes ( can't tell feather colour yet) and one is showing black eyes and blue feathers. Is there any way I can know the sex of the blue chick?
Thanks

can you post pics of the parents and offspring? there are many mutations that create red eyes- the most commonest are the sex-linked mutations, so your chicks could be Ino's, Pallid's or Cinnamon's- if the chicks are Ino's then you'll have to dna sex them, but if they are Pallids or Cinnamons they will be hens.

The blue chick will also have to be dna'd as it could be of either sex.

Hi Jordan, sorry for my late reply.

The Blue cock is split to Ino, and the hen is a Creamino (TurquoiseBlue Ino), so all will need to be dna'd sexed.
