advice

Post by jojomunty »

Hello i have a 5 week old ringneck which i brought from a breeder, he gave me formula to mix with lukewarm water, i feed him on a average 10 -12 mls twice a day morning and night.
I try to spend as much time as i possibly can but i do work 9 hours a day and hoping that the time i spend with him is enough.
He still is very skidish when I take him out of the box but once he is in my hand he seems ok.
Should I have somesort of toy's in his box to make him more comfortable.
At what age should I start to put him on solid foods and put him in a cage.
Sorry for all the questions just hoping im doing everything right.
Any advice would be muchly appreciated. Cheers Jo

When I bought Sanjay he was 8 wks old, he was in a smallish cage, and he was able to eat small seed, and soft fruit and veg, I hope this helps.

Sorry I can't help, got both birds fully weaned at 12 weeks. Try calling your local avian vet for advice.
Personally I'd be asking the breeder or another breeder to raise him with other birds his age for me until he is fully fledged and weaned. I'm not sure being alone and not fed for the majority of the day is very good for his mental health.
