Sshhhh!!! The birds are stunned !!!!

Post by rebecca malka »

We were feeding the birds when all of a sudden absolute silence! Not only silence but they were frozen in whatever position they had beeen in, silent and motionless except for the eyes pinning from time to time, not only were they silent but so were the other birds around the area. We have never seen anything like this before!

No cats were around either!!

I hope this link works, if not then perhaps this is the right one.

I can't look at your videos till later on my home computer, but I see my cockatoo freeze up sometimes as well. Especially when I put her on the floor lately, she puts her head down like she's looking at her feet and just stays frozen in that position for 10-30 seconds.

Probably not the same thing as your birds but I've often wondered about why they do that as well.

this seems like a typical predator/prey response. though you may not have seen a cat, something may have been nearby that you couldnt detect - something they heard or could smell perhaps...
