Well that explains the odd behavior

Post by ciqala20 »

So my bird just laid her first egg... And she doesn't even have a boyfriend.

How long do I let her keep the egg? Is she going to lay more?

Any advice would be awesome

Hi. Hoping a breeder will chime in here. I have heard the thing to do is let her keep the egg until she loses interest, in hopes she does not continue to lay.

Best wishes for a more informed person to speak up!

Ahm, and I guess put the food and water in easy reach of her nest area if she stops eating normally, of course!

Provide sources of calcium for her to help with healthy egg production (cuttlefish, calicum perches, etc.).

Thank you guys.

How many do they usually lay? So far there are two but it seemed like she was getting ready for another one

I feel like a nervous mama. When she comes up to me to be pet she seems so proud. I do wish I could breed her

My girl laid 5 eggs last year. More information about laying eggs and hatching here:

Maybe you should get her a boyfriend for next year?

Is 11 too old to breed?

I wouldn't know where to find a male

Could you try Craigslist? If you can find the right bird, a rehomed bird might be good?
