Breeding season going well- first young

Post by smick »

Great start so far, Indigo blue cock to violet blue hen's young have hatched looks like 4 but she want let me see well.
Green Pallidino to blue pallid hen on 4 eggs due to hatch soon.
Turquiose blue/ino cock to creamino hen have started laying.
Turquiose blue pallid cock to blue hen mating.

I'm most excited about the top pair as first breeding for cock, and the hen I bought this year as a 4 yr old breeder. This should give me the colours I want :P . If I can afford it would like to get a cobolt next year.

So jealous lol. We are still months off from breeding season here in Hawaii. Best of luck for you and your pairs. Sounds like you're having a wonderful season :D
I am owned by my birds...and I wouldn't have it any other way :D

First young are going great but unfortunately the eggs under the blue pallid with green pallidino cock didn't hatch and when checked were with fully formed chicks inside so this is my first dead in eggs :( . They look like they will go again. The other 2 pairs are now sitting. :D
Different subject but for Fathers day I got 2 new birds both young cocks to put with 2 hens that I already have , one cock is a normal Hooded parrot whilst the other is a split pied Hooded parrot. The only single birds I need partners for now is my Lutino lime Red rump parrot cock and my pied Kakariki parrot cock.

Sad news indeed...so sorry. Hope for the best for the second clutch.

Good news though on the two new birds. Good luck with them :)

Thanks SKYES-CREW, do you have many Aussie parrots in Hawaii. Some of my other pairs are princess parrots, scarlet chested parrots, eastern rosella's, budgies, cockatiels, hooded parrots and king parrots

We have scarlet chested, eastern rosellas, of course budgies :D I breed cockatiels and there are many varieties of cockatoos on the island. I have an umbrella and a bare eyed. I've never seen a hooded or king parrot. Ill have to look those up. :D
