if you get an older bird that isnt used to human contact, it just might be more difficult to tame them and get them used to human contact than if it was hand raised from a baby. it might also never achieve the same level of bond as the latter. thats not to say you couldnt do it or shouldnt. alot of ...

i have to agree with SCB - as harsh as it sounds, if you cant care for a pet properly, you shouldnt have them, no matter how much you love them. i'd suggest: - the bigger cage, as soon as possible - seperate cages - a play stand (this you can get your creative juices on and build quite cheaply yours...

ive looked at the DNAtest sites. they suggest quickly pulling a feather out. has anyone done this? im quite apprehensive about doing this. do they have to be pulled. could they not just be cut (as with wing clipping)?

by foraging, they are essentially playing with toys, but by maximising their intellectual potential they are kept further stimulated and recieve rewards at the end of it. sure you can have the toys in one place and food in another - they go hear to nibble at the toys, get hungry and go down for food...

with training, i'd start by sitting him on a T-bar (just a small simple T-shaped stand) infront of you. you could try a similar approach to this, teaching him first to accept you hand, and then once successful, stepup and such.

oh melika! see i dont have that problem :P though i do have to clean the occasional poop off the carpet (one level unit - i dont have a choice). iggy uses the top exit to the cage more than the front. i just hate that toys have to be right in the middle on the top, or along the side, not as much fle...

Keep in mind that this stage can last several days or weeks. Some get a severe case and it may last a few months. I’ll say it again and again, ignore any bluffing and you’ll get through this stage fine.

i'd advise seeing a vet. salvadore had a some very heavy breathing shortly after we got him. we thought at first he was huffing because he wasnt used to us, but it was clear that it was more than this. a quick trip to the vet and avery inexpensive antibiotic helped out :)

mine wasnt actually going through bluffing. she was a rescue bird and severely mistreated by her past owner, so im sorry i cant tell you about the duration - but i'll be where you are very soon! i have another little angel thats nearly 2 months

try small gradual steps. it would be better to have several sessions per day, like four sessions of even ten minutes rather than one long one, but whatever you can manage. taking her to your avian vet to have her wings clipped may help with the process aswell. i would suggest absolutely NOT giving your bird dairy. dairy contains bacteria and other properties that we as humans can barely tolerate (and alot of us can't!).
