Re: What is a good diet for Indian Ring Necks??

I would suggest a good pellet and lots of veg. Your best bet is to google what veg they can eat that's what I did there are heaps of lists out there. Seeds should be kept to a minimum as they are very fatty. And fruit is also something they need but again more as treat then all the time. Bulk of foo...

Re: My 2 Indians just layed an egg, what should I do ??

Well then yeah expect another egg 2 days after the first, they can have up to 6 at 2 day spacings. The first will hatch 24 - 26 days after the female starts sitting which is normally after the second egg is layed. Make sure you are feeding a balanced diet as the females body is under allot of strain...

Re: My 2 Indians just layed an egg, what should I do ??

Do you have a nest box in the cage, if not get one asap as they will prob lay at least another 2.
If it's in a nest box make sure you feed them a good balanced diet. The rest is pretty much up to them to sort out. In about 30 days the first egg should hatch. And they should lay every 2nd day normally

Male killed the first and 3rd egg is not fertile. @Jimmyjack From all the reading ive done into it it would appear that its not to uncommon for par...

Re: Parents killed first hatchling

Thanks Rod I have removed the cock and put him in spare cage. He heard the hatchling chirping and went in the box when he can out it was dead. He did not go back in the box after that. What concerns me is that it was not just killed it was torn apart to tiny pieces, is that normal when they kill a h...

Re: where do I start and should I?

Hi Michelle I went through the introduction of a new bird to the family a little while ago. As for as the bond between you and Jacques i have been told that a second bird can affect that bond as you are no longer there primary source of attention. Now in saying that i found the opposite to be true. ...

I must say so far they are doing all the right things as for as the eggs go with incubation and protection. Male has become very protective of the fem...

Re: Violet Indian Ring neck. Is this a male or a female?Anyb

Due to not knowing the age it is a bit hard to say. i do know with my green female she has a slight "ring" like your bird displays. i guess the quickest way to find out would be to get a dna test at an avian vet.
