Re: What can I do to stop "Luna" My IRN biting the family?
MissK could be right but it could also be that Luna is establishing a pair bond with you... and if that is the case, you want to discourage it. It is not healthy for a bird to have a pair bond with a human. Don't panic though, you haven't given enough information to indicate that is definitely a pa...

What can I do to stop "Luna" My IRN biting the family?
Luna is biting everyone when they try to pet her or try to get her to "step up". The thing is She will not nor has she ever bitten me. I can approach her anywhere in the house and ask her to "step up" and she will,(without even using her beak) in fact when she is on her perch and...

Re: I found this new mix on my adventure today
Thanks for the input Ellie, I am feeding this mix to Aviary birds, giving them fresh fruit and veg every 2nd day. From experience with other birds I have had the oils/fat from the seeds help to keep them warm in winter. As for Luna the girl I keep inside, she gets fruit and veg every day and She get...

Not sure where I can get the test done around here? (Lockyer Valley) One of the hens I have was clucking at him when he stole some apple from he though...

Re: I am going to build some breeding cages
very nice
I have the materials to build in steel.
I purchased extra when I built my aviary
And I have 20+m of wire left on the roll and the gal edging from a pool.
that will do the trick.
I will get stuck in to it this week then
Thanks.

Re: 1 Tame(ish) bird and a lot of time!
For perspective, let us imagine you and I have recently met. We see each other daily, and 75% of the time we meet, I turn my rings to the inside and smack your face. Then I stop all smacking for one week's time. At the end of one week, if you see me approach and turn my rings to the inside, will yo...

Re: 1 Tame(ish) bird and a lot of time!
She is very scared of my hands near her even when I go very very slowly towards her with a treat on it. We have gloves so we can get it to step up on our arm or service the cage without the biting hurting. Is this ok? hey Guys, it is a slow process to gain trust. It also depends on the bird itself ...

I couldn't resist
Ok so this morning I went to one of our local produce stores looking to buy some pellets for my IRN's. I walked in and there he was sitting in the corner of the cage looking very scared, unlike the other several IRN that where in there with him screeching away. On closer inspection of him I noticed ...
