Imported some pacifiers from the states and my irns love them. Coco keeps taking hers up on her perch then dropping it and repeating the same process. Can get a little annoying when u hear bang bang bang for hours. For the Aussies, we will have these available some time in July for u to buy.

In reference to me...Bhanu and Azzy have sorted out the dominance issue pretty quickly. No blood, no flying feathers. ok, explain this to me. My birds will grudgingly eat pellets, however if I make them into bicuits with organic honey, few nuts, craisins and a sprinkle of seed they dive on it. By the way, my 7yo has just worked out that the rest of chicken tastes as good as the drumstick so maybe it's a family thin...

The craisins I give my girls are sugar and cranberries. I'm very aware of preservatives such as sulphur and always check the ingredients. In Oz everything has to be labled (not sure what goes on everywhere else). I hav been known to buy organic almonds for my birds too.

At this stage all 3 of ours are girls, (wil find out with Coco). I've seen all parrots from budgies through to Sulphur crested cockatoos do it and they havn't all been male. I think u can take a pick as to why they do it. Scratching, getting rid of food, sexual behaviour or just 'cos it feels good. ...

All 3 (yes we hav 3 now) do that, half the time to get food off their beaks. I think they like the feel too. One of my birds used to do it to me when I was a kid, but I can't remember which one.

Hmm, may need to start a new topic. Variations in bird prices around the world. Look out for that one. Still love your macaws Athena. Closest I've got is a gorgeous (if I do say so myself) photo at the Adelaide zoo. This is why I'm getting a sun conure.

don't know about squash, but have given my girls kiwi. They are soso about it, but they love freash fig. Also love pomegranate, but make a huge mess with it. Do not giv this if you have expensive pale rugs.

I went to a bird sale on Sunday. Lotsa IRNs. Very pretty, top end stuff. Speaking to a finch breeder today he said that we have another 6 in the next 6weeks scattered throughout SA. Great for info from the breeders and to make contacts.

He's a baby so as long as he's eating and pooing and is wakeful it's fine.
