I compleatly understand, when my daughter was 2 I couldn't find her either, and this was in the middle of the night. Totally freaked out...think I woke up the whole street looking. Eventually found her under her bed.....she was sound asleep with her hand tucked between the bed slats and the mattress...

We back onto a small creek, and there is always an abundance of trees that have dropped branches. Hi there, I've got good news and bad news... The good news is that your baby is going through the bluffing stage, we have all been there, so There will be lots of support. The bad news is that until he passes through this stage you are just going to have to grit your teeth and take the bites. My gre...

About the not making noise, is your houshold reasonably quiet? He might not want to draw attention to himself. I have an increadbly noisy household, and its impossible to make the birds be quiet. Try leaving the radio on and randomly launching into song and dance just for the sheer pleasure of being...

Something else to think about is that when an Irn bites it hurts, when a too bites they can disfigure. Do you have the ability to allow the too out of cage time and keep it compleatly away from the kids? I have a Galah, and there is no way that I would ever let him be anywhere near my kids. Don't ge...

I just put up with it. I did purchase a dried cactus perch for shrek the other day (he is the worst for needle sharp claws), so hopefully it will help.

When you compare dowel to a natural branch, no matter where the bird perches the pressure will always be in exactly the same place on the foot. Is it possible to remove all of the dowel and replace it with natural branches??? It's so bad for birds feet, it annoys me that manufactures still make them with it in there *sigh

Shrek loves to do this also...I just distract him with something else and he seems to forget about it for awhile. He doesn't actually break them or anything, so I figure as long as distraction works (cause it is annoying), as far as habits go this one isn't too bad.

I'm really sorry that you had to make one of the hardes't decisions possible when it comes to our parrots.

The fact that you made it at all after so much effort shows that you really have the best interests of everyone involved both human and bird.

sleep talking??

Hi there,
my IRN is about 10/11wks old now, and he's started sitting on his perch, closing his eyes and vocalising/mumbling to himself.

Is he sleep talking? or is he awake while he does this....normally he tucks his head into his wing to sleep.

Very perculiar.

My baby doesn't want to be fed

I've had my IRN for 3wks now....(he's 8 wks old) He was being hand fed, and I slowly introduced him to vege/fruit/soaked pellets and seed. He still makes his begging noise, but is flat out refusing to be hand fed (I was using a syringe) anymore. And he won't even take anything from my hand (although...
