Went to a bird show today.....
We went to a bird show today and there was hardly any ringnecks , in fact there were 8 in total , the rest were small aviary birds . We have seen every colour of bird you can imagine and what bargains to be had . Toys half price , cages at cost price (like the price you would pay for a good second h...

Re: taming is going backwards
Hi , we do use treats and Charlie takes it and throws it away , Perdy hangs upside down on her perch if you go anywhere near her . Funny but frustrating when we know how good they were when we were off work . They aren't moulting , we are in the cold cold UK and they need their feathers . We come ho...

taming is going backwards
We had a week off work so we thought we would concentrate on taming the birds . We spent time with each of them (there's 2 of them ) and they were coming along great . Charlie was actually hopping onto Chris's finger willingly and we thought we were well on the way to cracking it . Perdy was a bit m...

Grey fluffy neck feathers
Our female is quite young , under a year but probably nearly a year . She has on her throat grey fluffy under feathers , they look scruffy . Are they baby bird feathers still or moulting ? Her green feathers are covering them but the patch is underlying , about 2.5cm square . She is a lovely looking...

Re: how do i tame my ringneck? please help!
We totally agree with the wing clipping . We were quite reluctant to go down that road as we felt sorry for them , taking their flight away . But how wrong can you be ? We clipped our birds and left them to settle for a week then started stick training and in the same day had them getting onto our f...

We even had them climbing onto our arms but they soon got off again . We put...

Re: They wont eat their veggies !
Yippee ! They're eating their veggies . I read a bit on a parrot website and the girl on there said she gave her birds veggies in the morning and then early evening took it out and put their seed in . The idea was to make the birds hungry so that they had to eat their veg , we did it for one day and...

They wont eat their veggies !
We cant get our birds to eat their greens . We've tried carrots , sprouts , turnip , cucumber , yellow pepper , cooked sweet potatoe and apparently these are all foods they love ! They love tangerines , so we've not given them any once we noticed them not eating anything else . They wont even eat ap...

Taming advice please !
We have bought 2 IRN's and had them a week now , they are aviary bred and therefore had no/little contact with people . They are both under 10 months old . We have managed in week to get them off the roof of their cage (where they hung on with all their life) to letting us near the cage without bolt...

We are in merry old England and new to all this . We have two IRN's , one is Charlie (blue) at 10 months old and Perdy(green) is about 4-5 months old . Charlie has had DNA and is a proven male and Perdy ! Well who knows , we were told she had to be female because of her colouring . We just dont know...
