THE LYRIC DIARIES

Ok, so I have perused all the topics and asked all the questions about how to train my 12 week old Indian Ringneck Parrot, and I have received some great advice. Along the way I have noticed that so many others are in the same boat as me, first time owner of an IR and no idea what is best to do in t...

Re: First timer..

Everyone's advice has been great. Today, a breakthrough. I have been just putting my hand inside the cage and slowly following him around the cage with my hand whilst calmly talking to him. I have done this several times a day. He firstly stopped flying around and began just climbing around the cage...

Re: First timer..

Thanks for your reply Ellie.
It has been hard going so far. I put my hand slowly into the cage, holding a piece of yummy food for him, but it does not tempt him, he just flies around trying to avoid me. Should I just persist with this, or continue to grab him and hold him.....????????

Re: First timer..

Hi, thankyou for your advice. your right, my baby was not hand raised, s/he was aviery bred, mum had 2 babies, but they were in a very large aviery with about 12 other IR. Mine is about 12 weeks old, so I am hoping that at this young age it's not too late to tame him down. I was given a rescued Lori...

Re: new to forum :)

Hi Sara, I am new to this site also, and from Australia, W.A, and a first time IR owner, my baby is also 10 weeks old and blue. His/Her name is Lyric. He has been in an aviery for a week, but bringing him inside today, in a smaller cage, ready to put in the hard work and train him. Looking forward t...

Re: First timer..

Hi Lily, thankyou so much for your reply. I would say your right with your estimate that my bird is about 10 weeks old. I have had him just over a week. I have put him in a large aviery cage, on his own on my patio, but, when i go into his cage, he just goes crazy, flying all over the place, so I am...

First timer..

Hi, my name is Caroline. Today is my first time here, and i am here as a new proud owner of a baby IR. I have had him/her just over a week and got it as it came out of the nest and began feeding itself. How old would that make it?? Anyhow, I am wanting to bring him inside in a cage and train him,(i ...
